Lawn Maintenance

We can provide all year round lawn care for any size lawn, large or small, flat or inclined. Our lawn maintenance plan (detailed below) is seasonally adjusted to provide you with a beautiful garden:

January/February

  • Clear away leaves and debris.
  • Avoid walking on the lawn when frozen or waterlogged.

March/April

  • Apply Lawn fertilisers.
  • Mowing the lawn begins as the change in climate stimulates turf growth and increases the frequency of mowing as required.
  • Scarify if your lawn is more than 12 months old.
  • Remove or spot treat coarse grasses and weeds.
  • Patch damaged lawn areas and edges with replacement turf or lawn seed.
  • Re-seed where necessary if your lawn is more than 12 months old.

May/June

  • Mowing
  • Fertilise established lawns containing weeds and moss with appropriate lawn fertiliser along with weed & moss killer.
  • Increase mowing frequency, a little and often is the key.
  • Aerate.
  • Remove or spot treat coarse grasses and weeds.
  • Water if rainfall is low.

July/August

  • Use water wisely, but to maintain colour in summer, more watering will probably be required.
  • In times of drought your lawn might go brown and dormant. It will recover when rainfall returns.
  • Make arrangements for us to mow your lawn whilst you are on holiday.

September/October

  • Scarify your lawn if more than 12 months old.
  • Gradually decrease mowing frequency as grass growth subsides, raise the height of cut as winter approaches.
  • Aerate.
  • Feed with an autumn lawn food or treat established lawns containing weeds and moss with lawn fertiliser, weed & moss killer.
  • Repair damaged or worn areas with new turf or lawn seed.
  • Allow worm casts to dry before brushing with a stiff broom.

November/December

  • Remove leaves and debris.
  • Mow if the lawn is still growing.
  • Prune and thin-out foliage surrounding the lawn.
